Board-Certified Creative Arts Therapist & Licensed Psychotherapist

The task of therapy is not to eliminate suffering but to give a voice to it, to find a form in which it can be expressed. Expression is itself transformation; this is the message that art brings.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Since high school, I have been fascinated to understand what makes us tick.

I learned that there are lots of very interesting theories out there, but I was determined to continue searching until I found something that made sense and actually helps people.

The concepts that make sense to me are neuroplasticity, (creating new connections in the brain to change habitual ways of thinking) polyvagal theory, (understanding how the nervous system is designed to keep us safe) body-based psychotherapy, (using above and below the neck systems to achieve change), mindfulness (accessing current moment awareness) and self-care (discovering what works for each individual to maintain physical and mental well-being) along with expressive therapy (releasing energies as a way to feel better and to connect with others).

I combine my BS in Human Development (the idea that we continue to grow and change across the lifespan) and my MA in Art Therapy (using expressive and creative ways to increase self-knowledge) with Meditation (learning to detach from thoughts in order to observe and influence them) and additional trainings in IFS, AEDP, AF-EMDR, CBT, DBT, Focusing, IMAGO to bring a client-centered, compassionate approach to our work together.

Not just therapy as usual.
