Neurodiversity

WHAT IS NEURODIVERSITY?

“Neurodiversity” is a word used to explain the unique ways people's brains work. While everyone's brain develops similarly, no two brains function just alike. Being neurodivergent means having a brain that works differently from the average or “neurotypical” person.

Art therapy encourages each person to find their own way of expressing what is important to them. Since there is no wrong way to do art therapy, uniqueness is celebrated. Increasing acceptance around strengths and challenges by finding your true voice is one of the goals of art therapy. All levels of functioning are welcome.
