How Creative Psychotherapy works

  • Creativity helps to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions

  • When things from the past interfere with the progress you wish to make, it may be time to face what is blocking you. Using creative arts like drawing, music, movement and poetry helps clarify issues so that you can begin to face the obstacles standing in your way.

  • Creative Psychotherapy can help you understand your emotions and learn self-regulation to keep calm and learn to respond rather than to react.

Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.
— Carl Jung

Hi, I’m Carla

I am a NYC based licensed psychotherapist, Board-certified Creative Arts Therapist, proud mom and artist with 20 years experience working with people from age 3 to 99.

After 12 years working at Montefiore Medical Center, I opened my private practice in 2019.

I believe that pro-active self-care is necessary for well-being, and that making small changes today leads to significant results tomorrow.

It is a great privilege to work with individuals as they begin to let go of limiting beliefs that may have served in the past, but need updating.

Growth and change occur over the course of a lifetime.

Not just therapy as usual.
